What is Citizenship Amendment Act 2019?
The CAA aims to give citizenship to Hindus, Jains, Christians, Shikhs, Buddhist and Parsis who arrived in India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afganistan before December 2014. To be eligible, imigrants must have resided in India for the past year and at least five out of 14 years. Previuosly migrants had to live in India for 11 years to be eligible for citizenship thruogh naturalization
Factors delays in CAA Implementation
The delay in implementating CAA stems From two factors

- the added impact of covid 19 pandematic
According to reports on manual Parliamantory Work, Legistation rules recommend framing within six months of presendential assent, with option for extensions from Commmities on Subcordinates Legistation in Loksabha and Rajyasabha
How does it effect Indian Citizen?
The Citizenship Ammendment Act does not affect Indian Citizen. Its meants offer Indian citizenship for foreigners who faced religious persecution in nearby countries because for their faith. CAA is those who “force and compelled to seek shelter in india due to persecution on ground of religion”.
Who is exempted from the CAA?
Autonomous couuncil under the 6th schedule of the constitution, like Kabri Analong, Dila Hasao and Bodoland territorail Council areas in Assam as well as Garo Hill in Meghalaya and tribal areas in Tripura are not affected by CAA.
Documents required to Citizenship
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has set up to a website for migrants who qualify. They have listed documents needed for applying like Passports, Birth Certificates and IDs from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh. These papers must show that person arrived in India by December 2014.
Do Indian Muslims to worry anything about?
Indian Muslims need to not worry about CAA or NRC, stating guidlines of government that no Indian citizen, regardless of religion, should be concerned about these policies.
